MAU-PAK Press Conference – Strengthening Ties and Announcing Participation in HEMS Fair

MAU-PAK Association hosted a press conference to share key developments and upcoming initiatives with the public and media. The event was graced by the presence of His Excellency Syed Zahid Raza, High Commissioner of Pakistan in Mauritius, and attended by esteemed members of the press and the Mau-Pak Association.

The primary objectives of the press conference were threefold: to introduce the Mau-Pak Association to a wider audience, to announce participation in the upcoming HEMS Trade Fair in Lahore, and to hear insights from the High Commissioner himself.

Mau-Pak: A Bridge Between Mauritius and Pakistan

Established officially on 11 February 2024, Mau-Pak emerged from a series of working sessions with the former High Commissioner of Pakistan, HE Muhammad Arshad Jan Pathan, and was formally launched on 14 August 2024—a date that coincides with Pakistan’s Independence Day. The High Commission of Pakistan in Mauritius serves as the patron of the association, which was formed with a clear vision: to foster meaningful ties between the two nations across various sectors including trade, education, tourism, health, and culture.

Mau-Pak's journey so far has included memorable milestones, such as hosting a visiting trade delegation from Pakistan, establishing logistical support agreements in Karachi and Lahore for Mauritian visitors, finalising a freight forwarding partnership to streamline trade logistics, and developing plans for a podiatry training institute in Mauritius in collaboration with a Pakistani institution.

Looking Ahead: HEMS Fair and Upcoming Activities

Among the highlights announced during the press conference was Mau-Pak’s confirmed participation in the HEMS Fair—Healthcare, Engineering, and Minerals Show—set to take place in Lahore from 17th to 19th April 2025. This flagship event, organized by Pakistan’s Trade Development Authority (TDAP), will bring together over 800 exhibitors and global participants under one roof.

Mau-Pak believes this event is a valuable opportunity for its members to:

  • Discover innovations in healthcare, engineering, and mineral sectors

  • Network with international industry leaders and experts

  • Explore new business collaborations and partnership opportunities

In addition to attending the fair, Mau-Pak’s delegation will engage in strategic meetings with TDAP, the Pakistani Chamber of Commerce, and other organisations, all facilitated by HE Syed Zahid Raza.

Further announcements included Mau-Pak’s support in coordinating incentive travel programs, such as an upcoming visit of 30 Mauritian sales agents to Pakistan as part of a corporate rewards initiative. The association aims to provide complete logistical support and ensure memorable experiences for such delegations, paving the way for future collaborative programs.

A Bright Future of Bilateral Collaboration

Mau-Pak’s ongoing efforts reaffirm its commitment to serving as a dynamic platform for economic, educational, and cultural exchange between Mauritius and Pakistan. The upcoming launch of its official website, continued cooperation with the High Commission on celebratory events like Pakistan Day, and its growing presence in both countries are clear indicators of its expanding role and relevance.

As the press conference concluded, HE Syed Zahid Raza shared his appreciation for Mau-Pak’s initiatives and reaffirmed the High Commission’s full support for its future endeavours.
